WITAFAID. This brings me joy and relief. I actually say, “What am I doing?” quite often. Today though I have two jobs I found myself looking for another. WITAFAID?

There’s a pause and then I often laugh at the absurdity of my choices.

Glassdoor has no Poet listings. WITAFAID?

Anyway, thank you Jonathan for this real and wonderful conversation. Keep going.

Perfect. Just what’s needed. Hit me in my break at work and is just the right question for someone stuck but trying not to notice they’re stuck.

For me this type of question automatically comes up every once in a while - typically in situations that feel absurdly wrong. When what I am “in the actual fuck” doing is not at all aligned with what I ought be doing. When you are climbing the ladder and realize it’s leaning against the wrong wall…

And then it often has the power to change my course and brings me back on track.

The part about answering questions in an unguarded way can really cause a glitch in conversation. I relish the opportunity to break us out of the pleasantries & scripted social etiquette. I want to know what your passion is, what's a struggle you're dancing with, where in life are you leaning into an edge. Long live the unplanned, unexpected raw honesty that comes from being curious and open.

Hmmm.. big pottymouth here and from a time/culture where polite, intelligent people (especially the ladies) don’t speak like that. But, I do. It’s always been a way to add a jolt to what I’m saying, it gets my attention in a different way. This acronym makes me chuckle and think seriously about the question all at once. Stops the scrolling, and thoughts about how I must clean the kitchen floor, closet, shed, etc. before I can do what is the most important to me thing I can be doing. I can also see using it to put a halt to what might be a habitual, unhelpful response to a trigger or difficult situation. This one’s a keeper.

Right? It's that blend of humor and, "oh wait..." that gets ya.

Love this. Another way to seek meaning and keep it real in selfhood!

Thanks for the insight and fun, Jonathan. I passed this on to others who I thought would appreciate it.

Regarding Hemingway's 6 word story, here's a funny take on that: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DAEqhHJsnwA/?igsh=MTF4ZnR4dWl2YTFycQ==
