Discover why true creativity thrives on interaction, reaction, and friction. Learn how engaging deeply with life unlocks your greatest creative potential.
So many journaling prompts here thank you once again - I always check out your latest podcast or Substack for inspiration learning and those “aha moments” ….
Hi Jonathan, what a great column. I’ve never quite thought of creation being fueled by friction in this way. This is a piece I’ll return to again and again. (And I really enjoyed your evocative writing too. Phrases like “crackles into existence” are delightful and a fun juxtaposition to your other phrases like “Dude was on to something.”) It was a fun and thought-provoking piece to read. Thanks for writing this!
Nice little musing on this process. It’s like my whole Substack - Every week using one of Terrance Hayes 255 questions on a century of poetry to react to. Sometimes we agree, sometimes we don’t, sometimes there’s an answer, sometimes there’s just more questions - but none of it would have found the page were it not for the spark of Hayes questions. :)
I love this piece.thnk you!
Love this… “Every moment of our lives is an interaction. With a being, an idea, an experience, a feeling.” TY
Thanks for capturing this truth. I intuitively knew it but needed to hear it out loud.
